How To: Dark Field Lighting (Take Better Photos Of Glass Subjects)

Ever wondered how those fancy images of bottles, glasses and vases in magazines, brochures and catalogues are made? Don’t you just love those elegant white lines that define the edges of these glassy subjects?

You Will Need

  • DSLR (you will also need to sync with strobes)
  • 4 Black Foam Core (to be used as flags
  • 1 Glassy Subject (we used a drinking glass in this howto)
  • 2 Strobes
  • syncs (wireless/or wired triggers for strobes)
  • 1 large white background (any white bg: wall, fabric, paper... etc)
