How To Get More Friends on MySpace

Have you ever visited someone’s MySpace profile and got annoyed at how many more friends they had than you? It wasn’t just one or two, but THOUSANDS more. Here’s how you can expand your Friends List and be on your way to become the next Tila Tequila.

You Will Need

  • A MySpace Account
  • Lots of pictures
  • Patience
  • A Friend-adding Program (optional)

Step 1: Setting your MySpace profile to Public

To maximize the results, set your MySpace profile to “public” view. This is a way to allow users who you’ve friend requested to view your profile and get to know you better.

Be aware that setting your profile to “public” view will make your profile searchable in search engines like Google and Yahoo. Don’t include any personal information on your profile that you don’t want to share with the world… literally.

Step 2: Pimp Out Your MySpace Profile Layout

Pimp out your MySpace profile with stylized themes that best represent you and your interests. You can use the MySpace Themes Editor found on your Homepage or you can perform a search for “MySpace profile editors”. Remember, first impressions do matter, and no one wants to add you as a friend if your profile is ugly!

Step 3: Post as many self-portrait pictures as you can

Your profile is all about you, and the best way you can show off is by posting as many pictures of yourself as you can. Another great idea would be to embed photo widgets that allow you to create custom slideshow and photo effects like rain or glitter.

Nothing screams “I’m FUGLY” like MySpace angles. Avoid posting too many pictures of yourself shoulders up.

Step 4: Have Patience

Patience is a virtue, and adding friends is a lot of work. Put aside several hours a day to scour MySpace for new friends. If you really don’t have the extra time, get a friend-adding program like FriendBlaster or FriendBot that will do the work for you.

Step 5: Get Some Exercise

You’ve finally reached the maximum number of friend requests you are allowed to send at any given time. Typically, this is 500 friend requests a day. What you need to do now is hit the treadmill and set it to China. You’ve been online way too long buddy.

Other than Tom, Tila Tequila is the only active MySpace user with over 2 million friends.

Cool wiki, you should definitely mention this on the "How To Pimp Your Myspace Page" video since they go hand in hand. This is all good stuff, except the part about the friend adding apps (it's cheating!) :-) jk, but doesn't feel so much better when you have thousands of friends and you did it all organically (as in my case...but I'm not bragging or anything)? Thanks for the great wiki, keep them coming! How can I prevent my Myspace from being hacked! now thats another good idea for a wiki.

Thanks for the awesome feedback Clayton! Yeah, I was thinking about providing hyperlinking to that vid --- like a cross-promo of both ideas... but I haven't had time to play with the wiki guide editor tools yet... LOL friend-adding bots just make the process go faster... As for the "How Can I Prevent My MySpace From Being Hacked" --- I don't think you really need a Wiki Guide to tell you that. Just don't have a stupid password... like your name, last name, or ABC123! :P x 2

No prob, but yeah a lot of people have easy to guess passwords and there's also a lot of clever people out there with malicious intent when it comes to myspace...like all of those phishers, and the fake toms, etc. - that's what I meant, how to avoid all of the myspace traps...
