How To Suggest and Vote on Howcast Topics

Want to see your idea turned into a Howcast Wiki Guide — or video? Here’s how to share your suggestions — and vote on everyone else’s.

You Will Need

  • A Howcast account
  • Ideas
  • Opinions

Step 1: Suggest a topic

To suggest a topic, click on the light blue “Suggest” box in the top right-hand corner of the Howcast home page, or on any of the other pages where it appears. You can also enter suggestion in the big “Suggestions” box in the middle of the home page.

Before entering a suggestion, make sure Howcast hasn’t already tackled it by typing the title into the “Search Howcast” field and looking through the guide titles in the relevant category.

Step 2: Type your idea

Type your idea into the blue box on the right-hand side called “Suggestions” and click “Submit.”

Step 3: Choose a category

Choose a category for your topic by scrolling through the white box on the top right-hand corner.

Check out the Suggestions, Wiki Guides, and Videos that are displayed below. They show topics that are related to the one you just suggested. If you enter a title that’s already been suggested, you will receive an error message.

Step 4: Click on “Add”

When you locate the appropriate category, click on the small blue box marked “Add.”

Step 5: Vote for other Suggestions

Your new title should now appear in the list of the most recent suggestions. Check out these ideas and vote on them by clicking on the “+” button to vote “yes” and the “-” button to vote “no.”

Step 6: Watch for new suggestions

Any time you see a list of suggestions on a page, look it over and vote for titles you’d like to read or watch. Pay special attention to titles that you’d be able to write or upload as a video — the more votes they have, the bigger your ready-made fan base!

Check your email: if someone writes a Wiki Guide or makes a video from your suggestion, Howcast will alert you.
