In many cases, yes! Howcast can retrieve your address book from several popular web-based email services (including Gmail, AOL, Hotmail, and Yahoo).
To add your personal email contacts to the “To” field on any email form (such as the one on the video playback page):
- Under the “To” field, click on the link that says “Add contacts from personal email account”. This will launch a secure pop-up window.
- In Step 1 of the pop-up, enter your email account username and choose an email domain from the select box.
- Enter your email account password in the “Password” field. This password is not saved by Howcast and is only used to contact your email service.
- Click on “Get Contacts” to retrieve your address book.
- Step 2 will list all the contacts in your email account. Select the people you want to send the email to by clicking the checkbox next to each address. You can click on the checkbox next to “Select all contacts” to select everyone in your address book.
- Click on “Import” to add these email addresses to the “To” field on the email form.
- Click “Send” on the email form to share the video, wiki guide, or profile with your friends.
If you are a Howcast member and are signed in, Howcast can remember your contacts so you can use them the next time you share a video or guide by email. To save your contacts, make sure the checkbox “Remember these contacts” on Step 2 of the pop-up is checked. Next time you begin to enter in a contact’s name or email address when sharing a video or guide, Howcast will automatically complete their email address for you.
Note: Only 3000 contacts can be synced at one time.
