How to Use the Howcast for iPad App

At the top of the main screen in portrait mode, check out Howcast’s videos of the day: swipe your finger to scroll through them or let them rotate automatically. Check out the navigation bar for other featured content, playlists, a history of how-to’s you’ve watched before, and “Likes,” videos you’ve chosen as your favorites or to save for later.

Use the main screen’s Browse tab to view more videos. You can choose between Howcast Original content, which are videos produced by Howcast, or All Videos, which includes curated content and user uploads. Narrow your selection by category or viewing data. Scroll through the menus under each heading; just leave your selection highlighted, and your videos will refresh automatically.

Found a video to watch? Tap the thumbnail to play, either in portrait or landscape orientation. Swipe the screen to move between steps quickly, or tap to bring up the timeline toolbar, which you can also use to navigate through steps. Tap the double arrow icon once to repeat the step you’re watching, or twice to loop the whole video.

Open the tab on the left and tap “Read Guide” for a text guide you can read while the video plays in thumbnail steps that advance automatically. Or tap a thumbnail to skip around.

Use the left-hand drawer to view related videos, share what you’re watching via e-mail, add it to your likes, get info, or see the list of what you need for the how-to you’re watching.

Want more videos? Return to the main screen, tap the search bar in the upper right corner and type in what you’re looking for — chances are, you’ll find it on the Howcast for iPad app.
