This playlist is based of off how to survive in the wilderness for language arts 10th grade. You have to do this because you read the book hatchet now you must use your survival tactics for your document about surving in the dessert ,at sea ,and in the wilderness.You Tyren picked Surving in the wilderness .Good luck and follow these simple directions. Step 1. Open a new NeoOffice or OpenOffice document. Name it this way: YourName_LA7_B04L03.doc . Step 2. Choose two of the search engines below. On your journal page, list the search engines you chose. www.google.com www.alltheweb.com www.yahoo.com www.lycos.com www.altavista.com www.about.com Step 3. Enter your keywords to search. (Examples: "wilderness survival tips" or "surviving tornadoes"). Step 4. Under the name of each search engine, list at least two interesting web pages about your topic. (You will have four total and they must all be different pages, even if the same pages show up on both search engines.) Example Entry: B04L03-04 Topic: Surviving in the wilderness Search Engine #1: www.google.com Sites: www.wildernesssurvival.com www.acme.com Search Engine #2: www.about.com www.outwardbound.org www.howtosurvive.com Do not forget to save your journal. You will add to it in the next lesson. Here's a hint for you to use as you search. When you find a site that you like, go to the toolbar at the top of your browser. In your research journal, skip a few lines after the L03-04 work to start your new entry. List again the four addresses of the websites you found last time. Step 2. Next to each address, explain any information you can find about the organization that sponsors the page. Step 3. Which one do you think is the most reliable? Mark "#1" by it and explain why. Next: Step 1. Open your journal and begin a new entry called "Authors." List the URL (web address) of each of the 4 web pages you have selected. Step 2. Next, list the author of each page and any other information you can find about that author. If you cannot find the author, put "No author listed." Step 3. Finally, rate the page you think is the most reliable based on the author. Put "#1" by that page and explain why. Next: Be sure to re-save your journal. All entries should be in one document. Then, send it to your teacher through the B04 L07 Drop Box. And final: Put your document in the Dropbox.
