Lodi, Wisconsin. The hometown of the Director’s Wife.
For each of our four “How-To Host a Movie Party” episodes, we shot a skit to represent to a different movie genre, or a specific film parody that best represented the theme of the given show.
Since this show is about chocolate party snacks, we chose to parody the film “Chocolat.”
We used muted, colored lighting to emulate the dark interiors of the original film, and used a diffusion effect from iMovie to create a bleary, dreamy softness to the video, intended to evoke a feeling of timelessness and romance.
We shot the skits before we shot the content of the episodes, so the only treats we had for Madeline to feed to Eric were stale, funky tasting brownies. He spit them out after each take.
The musical score was comprised of music beds and stingers gleaned from Apple’s GarageBand, SoundTrack Pro software.
Tatiana is supposed to be playing the role of the chocolatier’s daughter, who in the film, “Chocolat” had an imaginary friend. That’s who Tatiana is speaking to.
