How To Fix a Scratched CD

You Will Need

• White, non-gel toothpaste
• Warm water
• Clean, lint-free cloth
• Window cleaner
• A banana
• Baking soda

• 

  Step 1.

  Smear toothpaste

  Smear some white, non-gel toothpaste on the scratch with your finger—just enough to cover it.

• Mixing a little baking soda into the toothpaste, or using a toothpaste with baking soda, works best.

• 

  Step 2.

  Rub it

  Gently rub in the toothpaste in an up-and-down motion.

• 

  Step 3.

  Rinse

  Rinse with warm water.

• 

  Step 4.

  Dry

  Gently dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.

• 

  Step 5.

  Buff

  Spray a little window cleaner on the CD and dry it with your cloth to remove any smudges.

• 

  Step 6.

  Try a banana

  You can also resurface a CD with a banana. Start by rubbing some of the banana on the scratch in a circular motion.

• 

  Step 7.

  Use peel

  Take the banana peel and gently rub the banana in deeper.

• 

  Step 8.

  Wipe off

  Wipe away the banana residue with a lint-free cloth.

• 

  Step 9.

  Buff

  Remove smudges with a little window cleaner. Now your CD is good to go.
