You Will Need

  • At least two players
  • Highly personal questions
  • Creative dares

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Decide who goes first

Decide who goes first by drawing straws or picking names out of a hat.

  2. Step 2

    Pick a victim

The player who won the right to go gets the ball rolling by asking someone in the group, 'Truth or Dare?'

  3. Step 3

    Ask a question

If 'Truth' is chosen, the asker poses a question—ideally one that will require the player to reveal something he or she doesn’t want to be made public, like if they have ever cheated on a significant other.

  4. Ask the other players to help choose a question or dare; they may have some insight that you don’t—like the person in the hot seat has a secret crush or is terrified of heights.

  5. Step 4

    Assign the dare

If the player doesn’t want to answer the question, a dare must be performed—something along the lines of eating a dog treat, or going somewhere public and shouting, 'My rash has cleared up and I’m looking for love!'

  6. Step 5

    Issue penalty

Should the player refuse to answer a question and fail to complete a dare, a penalty may be issued, which can be a dare that’s even worse than the one the person failed!

  7. Step 6

    Continue

Once the truth or dare is fulfilled, the player who complied gets to pick a victim, and so on and so forth.

  8. Once a game for adolescents and teens, Truth or Dare now has an adult following—there are even online websites dedicated to the game.
