This video uses free programs that can allow you to receive phone calls from anyone free of charge. It also allows you to select your own area code.

You Will Need

  • A Grand Central Account
  • A Gizmo Account
  • A computer microphone and speakers
How To Get Free Inbound Calls: Download Gizmo

Step 1: Download Gizmo

Gizmo is a telephone applicaiton that allows you to send and receive phone calls from your phone. It can be downloaded at www.gizmoproject.com

How To Get Free Inbound Calls: Install Gizmo

Step 2: Install Gizmo

After you have downloaded Gizmo, install it and sign up for a free account and launch the application.

How To Get Free Inbound Calls: Find your SIP phone number

Step 3: Find your SIP phone number

From the program menu, go to Edit > My Profile > SIP. This will be your reference phone number.

How To Get Free Inbound Calls: Create a Grand Central account

Step 4: Create a Grand Central account

Go to www.grandcentral.com and use the methods described in the video to create a Grand Central account in any area code you want. Grand Central allows you to create your own telephone number and forward the callers to your own personal phone numbers.

How To Get Free Inbound Calls: Add your Gizmo SIP number to Grand Central

Step 5: Add your Gizmo SIP number to Grand Central

Once you have succesfully created a Grand Central account, sign in and click on the “Settings” tab. In the bottom right, click on the link that says “Add/Edit Numbers”. For one of the numbers, select “Gizmo” from the drop down box, enter your Gizmo SIP number for the phone number, and then type in a name for it. Then save the settings.

Step 6: Test it out by calling your Grand Central number.

With Gizmo open and using a different phone give your Grand Central number. It should ring to your Gizmo application and you can answer it through your computer.

grandcentral.com is now closed b/c Google bought it. Unless you've already got a number on it there's no way to get one until they open up the site again. Just an FYI..cause this won't work until grandcentral opens up again.
