Ah, the V&T! A warhorse of cocktail culture: simple, sturdy, effective. You’ve probably known how to make this from the moment you left college, but just in case, here’s a refresher course for a refreshing drink.

You Will Need

  • Ice
  • A rocks glass
  • A measuring jigger
  • 2 oz. vodka
  • Tonic water
  • A lime wedge
How To Make a Vodka and Tonic: Fill w/ ice

Step 1: Fill w/ ice

Fill the glass with ice.

How To Make a Vodka and Tonic: Add vodka

Step 2: Add vodka

Add the vodka.

Always store your vodka in the freezer. The colder it is, the better.

How To Make a Vodka and Tonic: Pour tonic water

Step 3: Pour tonic water

Fill up the glass with tonic water.

How To Make a Vodka and Tonic: Garnish & serve

Step 4: Garnish & serve

Garnish with the lime wedge, and serve.

Tonic water is flavored with quinine, for years a main ingredient in both the preventing and curing of malaria.
