Feel like your upper back and neck are lacking in stature? We understand, and we’re here to help.

You Will Need

  • A cable machine with floor-mounted pulley
  • And a rope handle attachment

Always consult a physician before attempting any exercise program.

Step 1: Sit in front of pulley

Sit in front of the pulley with your feet against the footrests.

Step 2: Grab ends of rope

Grab the ends of the rope attachment with your palms facing down.

Step 3: Sit back

Sit back with a slight bend in your knees and your back vertical and ramrod straight.

Step 4: Pull cable up to neck

Keeping your back straight, pull the cable up to your neck.

Keep your elbows out to really work your trapezius muscles.

Step 5: Release weight

Slowly release the weight until your arms are straight again.

Step 6: Repeat

Repeat pulling the cable to your neck until you’ve done the number of reps your workout program calls for.

In 1852, rowing became the first intercollegiate sport in America, when Harvard defeated Yale in a race.
