If you like things shiny and bright, you’re probably a fan of chromium, a metal used to plate other metals, commonly known as chrome.

You Will Need

  • A sink or bucket
  • A bottle of dishwashing liquid
  • Warm water
  • A clean cloth
  • A few paper towels
  • And an old, soft toothbrush
  • A chrome or soft metal cleaner
How To Clean Chrome: Make soapy water

Step 1: Make soapy water

Squeeze a squirt of dishwashing liquid into a sink or bucket of warm water.

Never use abrasive cleaners, as they could scratch the chrome.

Step 2: Dip the cloth

Dip the cloth in the soapy water and wash your chrome item.

Don’t wash chrome in greasy dishwater, or you’ll end up with a greasy film that will burn if heated.

Step 3: Use a toothbrush

An old toothbrush will help you clean hard to reach places.

Step 4: Dry with paper towels

Use paper towels to wipe the item dry.

Step 5: Use chrome cleaner

If there are still stains or dirty areas, use a cleaner made for chrome or soft metals, following instructions on the packaging. Now your chrome will twinkle like new.
