If you like things shiny and bright, you’re probably a fan of chromium, a metal used to plate other metals, commonly known as chrome.
Squeeze a squirt of dishwashing liquid into a sink or bucket of warm water.
Never use abrasive cleaners, as they could scratch the chrome.
Dip the cloth in the soapy water and wash your chrome item.
Don’t wash chrome in greasy dishwater, or you’ll end up with a greasy film that will burn if heated.
An old toothbrush will help you clean hard to reach places.
Use paper towels to wipe the item dry.
If there are still stains or dirty areas, use a cleaner made for chrome or soft metals, following instructions on the packaging. Now your chrome will twinkle like new.
Chromium was discovered in 1757 by French pharmacist and chemist Louis-Nicholas Vauquelin.
