Don’t think of cleaning your windows as drudgery. Think of it as a way to—as the song says—’let the sunshine in…’
Pick a time to wash your windows when the sun isn’t hitting them directly.
In the bucket, mix a solution that’s one part water to one part vinegar.
Dip a sponge into the solution, squeeze out the excess, and wipe the window clean.
Drag the squeegee from the top to the bottom of the window in one smooth, steady motion.
If you don’t have a squeegee, you can dry the window with clean, lint-free cloths or a few crumpled sheets of black and white newspaper.
Rub the squeegee with a cloth or towel to remove excess water.
Continue dragging the squeegee, overlapping the strokes one at a time, until you’ve removed all the cleaning solution.
Be sure to dry each window right after to you sponge it or you’ll end up with streaks.
Dry the windowsill and frame with a cloth, then step back and admire the view.
The song ‘Flesh Failure (Let the Sunshine In)’ was originally written for the 1968 Broadway musical Hair.
