You Will Need

  • A large square scarf
  • And a flat surface

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Spread scarf

Spread your scarf on a flat surface in the shape of a diamond.

  2. Step 2

    Bring bottom point up

Bring the bottom point up toward the top point, placing it just above the midpoint of the scarf.

  3. For best results, keep your scarf smooth and even.

  4. Step 3

    Fold top point down

Now fold the top point down to meet the straight, closed end of the scarf.

  5. Step 4

    Fold bottom edge

Fold once more, bringing the bottom edge in line with the two points on either side.

  6. Step 5

    Fold top edge

Now fold the top edge down so that it lies directly along the newly formed bottom edge.

  7. Step 6

    Fold entire scarf

Fold the entire scarf lengthwise one more time.

  8. Step 7

    Wrap scarf & tie

Wrap the scarf around the back of your neck, bring both loose ends to the front, and tie neatly at your neck.

  9. Step 8

    Tie ends

Take the two ends and tie them again, this time pulling them gently to create a bulky front.

  10. Step 9

    Knot behind head

Bring the two ends behind your head, and knot.

  11. Step 10

    Tuck ends

Tuck the ends underneath the scarf, and you're good to go.

  12. The Ascot got it's name from—what else—the Royal Ascot Races held in Ascot, England.
