This tutorial is great except for one key step -- reconnecting Cables 1 and 2 -- mine are not snapping back in, and this video shows the connections sliding around without connecting. How do you keep the tiny ends of cables 1 and 2 to stay correctly in place???

Excellent tutorial! My iPhone 3G looks like new again. The most infuriatingly tedious part of the job is removing the hundreds of microscopic shards of glass, but the rest was easy. Thank you very much!

Hi everything seems to have gone back together ok with my 3G iphone, but the screen wont register when i touch it! The bottom button wont work, the top button is te only thing that will now work! Have any ideas??????

Easy peasy. Assuming you still have your ip*one, what you probably didn't do was the last step of connecting cables 3,2 and 1 back from whence you pulled them. So take the two screws out by the bottom, pull it apart again and make sure you jam and push gently till you hear the flaps/ cables snap into place for all three....otherwise, there wont be enough contact and your touchscreen won't work.

What a great tutorial. Very easy to understand, so going to attempt a repair on my daughters i phone myself. Already had it done once this year at a cost of £60 uk pounds and got a feeling it won't be the last time it gets broken ! :-(

Thank you very much for this video. Last time my screen broke I shipped it away and it was gone for 2 weeks cost me $100 and came back with a finger print on the under side of the glass. (very poor experience)
This time I ordered the glass from e-bay for 14.99 shipped, installed it using your video in 1 hour and never was without my phone and it looks perfect. Thank you very much.

I found these very useful website http://www.my-digital-source.ca for touch screens for iphone 3g and iphone 3GS. They combine adhesive and toolkit into a package deal and give you everything you need to complete this repair. FOR FREE!
They are very helpful and shipping was pretty fast too. They also sell LCD Screens as well sometimes your LCD gets broken along with your Touch Screen.
