The Fibonacci gauge was named after 13th-century Italian mathematician Leonardo Fibonacci.

Thanks, Heather. The Golden Mean is very fascinating. It's been used in architecture, art, and design for centuries. It's sometimes even applied in the fashion world. Models' faces are made up to more closely fit the proportions of the mean. We have complete plans for constructing and using a Fibonacci gauge in WOOD magazine issue 173 (http://woodstore.net/november173.html) or at http://woodstore.net/figaandhowto.html
