Want a chance to prove your filmmaking prowess and win some serious dough? http://www.howcast.com/videochallenge. Show us your coolest, baddest, flat-out flyest how-to video in three minutes or less and you could win $2,000 – and score distribution across the web and beyond!
Step 1: Visit the contest site
Visit howcast.com/videochallenge, and read the rules. You’ve got complete creative control, but there are still some guidelines you’ll need to follow.
Step 2: Get creative
Let the creative juices flow. Dream up an original how-to we’ve never seen before. Then, let the cameras roll.
It doesn’t have to look like one of our videos – au contraire! We’re looking for something new. So go ahead, knock our socks off.
Step 3: Download contest elements
When you’re ready to edit your video, download the contest intro and outro animation graphics, and stop by the Howcast music library to add Howcast-approved music. Visit the contest resources page to access these elements.
If you have trouble with the contest intro/outro graphics, you can still upload your contest submission, or e-mail Howcast for help.
Step 4: Upload
When you’re ready to upload, visit the contest site and click “Enter Now.” Be sure to upload this way so that your video is tagged as an official contest entry.
Step 5: Spread the word
Once voting begins, tell all your friends and family to vote for you every single day! A superstar panel of film, television, web, and how-to pros will judge the 10 videos with the most votes. The first-prize winner scores 2,000 bucks, and their video will be showcased across Howcast’s broad distribution network.
Up-and-coming film and video makers can make Howcast spots any time through the Emerging Filmmakers Program. It’s a great way to build a professional reel, get exposure, and to pick up some extra cash.

The video was great, but the contest is not for me. Two things, first I'm at best middle of the road, second these are just lame popularity contests. I'm interested in qualified judges reactions and not most votes tallied.
