Learn how to use Fiskars’ Fingertip Craft knife to create a fun photo collage.
For best results start with a fresh blade in the knife. Use No. 11 blades for replacement. To remove the old blade, turn the silver barrel of the knife counterclockwise. Lift the old blade out of the knife. Insert the new blade and turn the silver barrel clockwise until it is tight again.
To hold the knife, place your index finger up through the loop and rest it on the silver barrel. At the same time, your thumb and middle finger are holding the knife like a pencil. Now you are ready to cut.
Place the photo you are going to cut onto the self-healing mat. It is easier to cut out the smaller areas first and then cut the outline of the image. To begin, cut out the small portion between the boys’ faces.
When you go around a curve, instead of lifting your knife up and restarting the cut, rotate the photo, leaving the knife in contact and you will get a smoother cut.
Next, cut the outline of the image, around the three children.
Add some Popit Shapes to the back of the photo and adhere it to the background photo.
After you have used up all of your Popit Shapes, use the leftover pieces as well, so nothing goes to waste.
Anchor the silhouetted photo to the bottom of the background photo, so your picture is not “floating in space.”
