You Will Need

  • At least shoulder-length hair
  • 1 A comb
  • 1 A teasing comb
  • Bobby pins
  • 1 An elastic band
  • Flowers

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Comb your hair

Comb your hair to get out all the tangles.

  2. Hair is easier to work with if it hasn’t been washed for a day or two.

  3. Step 2

    Make a side part

Part your hair to one side.

  4. Step 3

    Separate a front section

Take a two-inch-thick piece of hair from the front of your head, on the side of the part with more hair. Section it off, and pull the rest of the hair on that side behind the ear.

  5. Step 4

    Tease it

Lift the section of hair, and back-comb it with the teasing comb.

  6. Step 5

    Roll it into a barrel

Pick up the teased section from the end, and roll it backward, creating a barrel. Secure it to your head with bobby pins.

  7. Step 6

    Repeat

Repeat with a section of hair on the other side of the part.

  8. Step 7

    Make a ponytail

Grab the remaining hair on both sides from just above the ear and pull it into a mid-height ponytail.

  9. After you tie the ponytail, pull some of the hair out of the top of the elastic band to add volume.

  10. Step 8

    Twist it

Twist the top half of the ponytail, the part closer to your head, and pin it at the elastic band.

  11. Step 9

    Wrap it

Take the remaining loose end of the ponytail, wrap it around the elastic band, and secure it with a bobby pin.

  12. Step 10

    Make adjustments

Loosen the ponytail a little and pin the sides. Add flowers for a fun finishing touch.

  13. Seventy-six percent of women end up putting their hair in a ponytail or bun by the end of the day.
