Learn how to make a weathered background with UTEE, Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints and Sticky-Back Canvas.
Paint Sticky-Back with Blank Canvas paint. When you are finished let dry. You can speed the drying time by using the Heat It Tool.
If your canvas is curling up, release the backing from the paper and stick it onto your Non-Stick Craft Sheet so it will lay flat as you paint.
Stamp your image onto the primed canvas with clear embossing ink. If you are working on a large sheet of Sticky-Back, work in small sections at a time.
When choosing a stamp for this technique, it is best to use a bold image.
Place the stamped canvas onto a piece of scrap paper. Pour clear UTEE over the stamped images, place the excess back into the jar and emboss until the powder is melted. Let cool.
Place a Dash of Red paint onto the Non-Stick Craft Sheet. Spray some water into the paint with a Mini-Mister to make a watery glaze. Make it the consistency of a watercolor paint.
Paint a stripe onto the embossed canvas. Before the paint drives, use a paper towel to wipe the paint of of the embossed images.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 using a smidge of Blue Paint. Make a watercolor glaze, paint a stripe and wipe off the excess paint with a paper towel.
Continue alternating Red and Blue stripes until the entire canvas is painted.
Add additional texture to your canvas by using a square cut from the Rub It Scrub It pad as a dry brush. Place the square into some paint and dab it onto your canvas. Use the red, white and blue until you get the desired effect.
Once your canvas is dry, use the small brush to apply some Perfect Pearl pigment powder over the embossed image, then wipe off the excess with the larger Perfect Pearl brush. No need to set the pearls because they stick to the UTEE.
