Is your garbage scattered over the lawn in the morning? Follow these simple steps to get rid of raccoons.
You Will Need
- Plastic garbage bags
- Metal garbage cans with tight-fitting lids
- A radio
- Bright lights
- Ammonia
- A heavy rock or weight
Step 1: Remove food or water source
Rid your yard of any food or water source, including a running hose, bird feeders, fruits, and berries.
Step 2: Double-bag your garbage
Double-bag your garbage to eliminate food odors.
For added protection, pour ammonia on top of the garbage bags.
Step 3: Place trash in metal garbage cans
Place your trash in metal garbage cans and secure the lid tightly.
Place a heavy rock or weight on top of the lid.
Step 4: Scare the raccoons
Play a radio and install bright lights in the garbage can area.
Step 5: Call animal control
Call your local animal control for help if you have a stubborn raccoon that won’t go away.
