Tired fo those tasteless and dry cakes? This cake will save you from the deserts of desserts.
Preheat oven to 300° F and grease baking dish.
Separate 6 egg-whites in a bowl and beat them with a hand mixer at medium speed until it starts getting thick.
Continue mixing, and slowly add 2 cups of sugar, 6 yolks and 2 table spoons of vanilla. Keep mixing for 3 minutes on steady speed.
Add 2 cups of flour and 3 table spoons of baking powder, alternating with ½ cup of milk and continue mixing.
When the batter is smooth pour it into greased baking dish and bake for about 30 – 40 minutes.
Insert a toothpick in the center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out clean, your cake is ready to take out of the oven.
Once the cake is cool, poke it with a fork. Make as many holes as you can without destroying the cake.
In a blender, add 1 can of evaporated milk, 1 can of condensed milk, 1 can of Table cream and 3 yolks; blend completely. You can also use a bowl and a mixer.
Add all of the mix to the cake by opening the holes with a fork and pour the mix in; Moving up and down the cake until the mix is gone and the cake is soaked.
For a Caribbean twist, use cream of coconut instead of Condensed Milk.
Add a traditional frosting by beating 3 egg-whites, ¼ Tbsp of cream of tartar, until it starts getting thick, slowly add 6 to 7 Tbsp of sugar and ½ Tbsp of vanilla and beat until fluffy; spread frosting on the cake.
Bake again for 10-15 minutes, this will caramelize the milk, and lightly toast the frosting.
If you use a different frosting, apply it after the milk is caramelized.
Decorate with strawberries and place it in the fridge for at least 2 hours before serving. Serve it cold and enjoy.
Did you know that with cakes like Tiramisu or Rum Cake, liquid soaked cakes are said to originate from Europe.
