Steps

  1. Step 1

    Apply foundation and highlights

Apply foundation and create highlights with pressed powder in a shade lighter than the foundation. Highlight a square-shaped face above the cheekbones, in the center of the forehead, and the tip of the chin. Place highlights on a round-shaped face on the forehead, underneath the eyes, the center of your chin, and just above the cheeks.

  2. Wearing bangs can shorten an oblong face.

  3. Step 2

    Apply eye makeup

Apply dark eye shadow on the outside corners and highlight the top lid and inner corners of a square face. For a round face, use dark-colored eye shadows. For an oblong face, use dark shadows and apply eyeliner beyond the width of the eye. Finish with black mascara.

  4. Use makeup tones that complement your skin tone as well as face shape. If you are very fair, don't go too dark.

  5. Step 3

    Apply blush

Apply light-colored blush toward the center of the face upward at an angle to make a square face appear longer. For a round face, use a dark blush along the apples of the cheeks. Neutral-colored blush in a more horizontal line widens an oblong face.

  6. Use bronzer or powder that is a shade darker that the foundation to contour the face and make it appear more oval.

  7. Step 4

    Apply lipstick and lip liner

Draw attention to the center of the mouth if you have a square face. Outline the lips with a lip liner and fill the center of the top lip. Finish with a lipstick one shade lighter. Make lips stand out on a round face by lining and using a darker lipstick. If your face is oblong, use a neutral-colored lipstick without liner.

  8. Step 5

    Finish with gloss

Finish your look by dabbing a bit of gloss on the center of the upper and lower lips to make lips look fuller.
