Hard work and a good education can lead you on a path to being the next great legal mind.
Get a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university. Law schools do not have course or major requirements, but a good GPA helps.
Take the Law School Admission Test, or LSAT. Your grade point average and LSAT score are two main considerations for law school admission.
Research law schools online. Find minimum grade point average and LSAT scores requirements, as well as the school’s accreditation status with the American Bar Association.
Make sure schools are accredited by the American Bar Association.
Apply to law schools. Most law school applications require a college transcript, LSAT scores, and an essay.
Complete law school and earn your Juris Doctor – J.D. – degree. While you’re in school, enroll in clinical programs or internships.
Study for and pass the bar exam for the state where you want to practice law. The test varies from state to state.
Submit your resume for positions you are interested in. Now you can put your well-trained legal mind to work!
