Your entire life is on your iPhone, which could make it a little hard to navigate. Here’s how to quickly find what you’re looking for.

You Will Need

  • An Apple iPhone
  • Operating System 3.0

Step 1: Get OS 3.0

If you’ve got a first generation or 3G iPhone, download the free OS 3.0 upgrade. If you’ve got an iPhone 3G S, the latest operating system comes preloaded.

You can download OS 3.0 for your iPod Touch as well, which will cost you $9.95.

Step 2: Access Spotlight Search

Flick to the left of the main home screen to get to Spotlight Search.

Step 3: Start typing to see results

Start typing – matching results begin to appear immediately. Spotlight pulls up results from e-mail, contacts, calendar, and notes, plus everything stored on your iPod. Tap the blue “Search” button at the bottom of the screen to complete the search.

Results from matching apps and web sites that are on any of your home screens will also display so you can launch them quickly.

Step 4: Tap

When you see what you’re looking for, tap it once to open it.
