Apologizing isn’t easy, but with the help of these tips, you’ll be out of the doghouse in no time.
Explain your offense to be sure you and the offended are talking about the same thing.
Acknowledge that the offended person is hurt, to respect their feelings.
Make things easier by bringing a thoughtful gift, such as flowers.
Take responsibility for your actions. Do not get defensive or offer excuses while taking responsibility.
Give a genuine apology. The last thing the offended person wants to hear is a bogus apology.
Promise you will never commit the offending action again, and stand by that promise.
Ask the offended person to forgive you.
Did you know? The Apology was Plato’s retelling of Socrates’ speech responding to charges of corrupting youth.

I have made a mistake from which there seems to be no recovery. It was the Facebook equivalent of the dreaded "reply all" email. I used a 3rd party aggregator to manage my social media accounts and I replied back to what I thought was a private DM message but it turned out to be public posting. How to recover?? I am mortified. I have a very sick friend and replied back to an inquiry on his condition with equivalent of 'he's trying to die but I can' t let him do it because I need to kick his rear'. Message was dramatized and related to others not on social media. How can I recover???
