How To Make a Sword Out Of Foam: Cut and sand pipe

How To Make a Sword Out Of Foam: Cut the noodle

Step 2: Cut the noodle

Cut the swim noodle with the razor blade so that it is 28 inches long.

How To Make a Sword Out Of Foam: Slide on the noodle

Step 3: Slide on the noodle

Put a thin layer of caulk on the pipe and slide the noodle over it, leaving about an inch at the top.

How To Make a Sword Out Of Foam: Make the pommel

Step 4: Make the pommel

Cut three inches from the bottom of the noodle for a pommel. Slide this piece to the bottom of the pipe, making space for a grip.

How To Make a Sword Out Of Foam: Make tips

Step 5: Make tips

Cut the open cell foam to make a tip and an end piece, each two inches thick. Use the razor blade to shape them to fit on the tip and end of the sword, and attach them with strips of duct tape.

Put cellophane over the tip before taping it. This will make it easier to replace the tip later.

How To Make a Sword Out Of Foam: Wrap grip

Step 6: Wrap grip

Wrap the grip with electrical tape.

Cover the entire blade with gray duct tape to make it look metallic.

How To Make a Sword Out Of Foam: Poke holes

Step 7: Poke holes

Take the razor blade and poke a few holes in the tape on the tip to let it breathe.

Did you know? The word “sword” comes from an Old High German word meaning ‘’to hurt.’’

Who the heck recommended you spiral wrap the entire thing with the duct tape? That is a TERRIBLE idea compared to lengthwise taping.
