Don’t let your short legs get you down. You can have longer, leaner looking legs by following these simple tips.

You Will Need

  • 1 Jeans
  • 1 Heels
  • 1 Pencil skirt
  • 1 Cash and credit cards (optional)
  • 1 Sewing Machine (optional)
  • 1 Needle and thread (optional)

Step 1: In Your Jeans

A great-fitting pair of trousers will make your legs look a mile long. Straight-leg styles are flattering on almost every figure. For jeans, chose a dark wash. Be sure the hem stops no shorter than the middle of the foot when wearing heels. Go with a longer hem for a more dramatic look.

Tailor your pants to your custom length. Let out hems and cuffs. Purchase the next height size range and hem to your personal preference.

Step 2: Go shoe shopping.

Add height to your frame with heels and wedges. Wear them with skirts, pants or even shorts. They will lengthen your legs and modify your posture. Avoid round-toe styles and look for more pointed styles.

Get more milage out of your heels by practicing heel lifts on the edge of your stairs. It will strengthen and tone while giving the impression of leanness.

Step 3: Show some leg.

Choose pencil skirts. The streamlined silhouette draws the eye vertically, giving the illusion of length. Pair them with heels and wedges. In cooler months, pair them with knee high boots Try high-wasted styles to give the impression that the top of your legs are higher on your torso.

Steer clear of clothing which breaks up the vertical lines of your legs. Horizontal stripes, cropped pants, ankle strap shoes all draw the eye width-wise.

Step 4: Go nude!

Look for a nude shoe in a color that matches your natural skin tone. It will make your legs look longer by creating a seamless transition from skin to shoe. You can wear neutrals from waist to shoe for a more dramatically leg-lengthening look.

Step 5: Work it out.

Try simple exercises at home to strengthen and sculpt your calf muscles. Stand with the balls of your feet on the edge of a stair. Slowly raise up on the balls of your feet and hold your position for 2 counts. Slowly lower back to your starting position. Do 10 to 15 repetitions.

A 2008 UK study revealed that people whose legs are 5% longer than average are considered the most attractive, regardless of their gender.
