Step 1: Figure out your needs
Determine your needs and the kind of person you want. There are many nannies, certified and uncertified, young and old, experienced and new.
Search the International Nanny Association and the Alliance of Professional Nanny Agencies or a nanny training program on the internet.
Step 2: Interview your nanny
Interview your nanny without the presence of your children.
Step 3: Interview with your family
Invite the candidate to your home for a longer meeting with your children.
Step 4: Call references
Call all of the candidate’s references, and ask specific questions.
Contact a private security company or nanny agency that provides nanny screenings if you are hesitant about your candidate.
Step 5: Offer the job
Give the nanny a written offer with the job description and compensation clearly outlined.
