Don’t let hemorrhoids be a pain in the butt. Follow these simple steps to deal with this common pregnancy problem.
If hemorrhoids cause pain, bleed frequently, or don’t improve with home remedies, see a doctor.
Eat healthy, high-fiber foods throughout the day, such as vegetables, whole grains, bran cereal, and fruits.
The most common cause of hemorrhoids is constipation. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to help prevent it.
Exercise 30 minutes a day to help with your digestion. Yoga, swimming, and walking will ease constipation. Consult a physician before attempting any exercise plan.
Soak for 15 to 20 minutes in warm water to cover your buttocks and hips.
Avoid soap, scented bath salts, and essential oils or you could worsen the inflammation.
Apply an ice pack to the irritated area to reduce swelling and discomfort.
Clean the affected area with unscented, non-alcohol, moist towelettes. Use them instead of toilet paper.
Talk to your doctor about topical creams that are safe to use.
More babies are born in the United States on Wednesday than any other day of the week.
