How To Setup a Custom Wordpress Blog

Make your own blog that is 100% customizable and that is completely ad free using free tools. We will be using a free account from www.awardspace.com, free blogging software called Wordpress, and a free FTP client called Filezilla.
You Will Need
- 0 Wordpress
- 0 Awardspace.com Account
- 0 Filezilla FTP uploader
Step 1: Find a hosting provider
You will need to find a hosting provider that can support Wordpress software. If you already have a hosting provider, then you can use it. If not, then Awardspace.com is a good alternative, because it supports wordpress and it’s fre.
Step 2: Set up your Hosting account
You will need to get your hosting providers FTP login information and your websites database information.
Step 3: Obtain the Wordpres software
Download Wordpress from www.wordpress.org/download. Unzip the downloaded file and find the “readme.htm” file. This contains instructions for how to install Wordpress onto your website. Edit the wp-config file to match your websites database infromation.
Step 4: Download an FTP client
An FTP client allows you to upload information from your computer to your website. A great free FTP program is called Filezilla found at www.filezilla-project.org. In Filezilla, enter in your FTP information and upload your Wordpress files.
Step 5: Run the Wordpress Setup Wizard
The last thing you want to do is run the Wordpress Setup Wizard. This wizard can be found at [yourdomain].com/wp-admin/install.php. Follow the instructions in the wizard and then login to our blog. Now you can either use the default themes, or you can upload other themed templates from various sites on the internet.

WOW! There is so much information to know. Thank goodness you have submitted this video to help. I watch this and remember why I was intimidated by wordpress when I first tried getting started with it.

Can anyone help please!!?
We are trying to set up a blog using wordpress and filezilla and have free hosting on awardspace,
Have created a database on awardspace with a username and password, and have edited the wordpress/wp-config file with notepad. The problem we are having is connecting with filezilla.
this is the error message that comes up -

we have bought a domain called uglynsafe.com and want the blog to be on this.
we just dont speak the language but it must be so simple as it seems like lots of people do it!
so please can someone help us? thanks
