Gangs are everywhere and your children could be susceptible to joining one. Look for these warning signs.
Notice if your children’s friends change. Pay attention to whether they ignore their old friends and don’t talk about their new friends.
Talk to the old friends to see if they suspect anything.
Notice if your children change their hairstyle or clothing to match those of their new friends.
Look for symbols on their clothing that match any symbols their friends may wear.
Look to see if your children have money that you don’t know the source of.
Pay attention to changes in attitude, especially toward things your children used to enjoy.
Notice if their grades are slipping or if your children are being disrespectful at school.
Get help if you suspect your children are involved in gang activity. Talk to their school counselor, a community organization, or the local police.
There are an estimated one million gang members in the United States.
