You Will Need
- Measuring tape
Measure your height, with assistance, beginning from the floor and extending to the top of your head.
Find coat length
Determine your coat length based on your height. Your coat length is short if you are 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7, regular if you are 5 feet 7 ½ inches to 5 feet 11, and long if you are 5 feet 11 ½ inches to 6 feet 2 ½ tall. Your length is extra long if you are 6 feet 3 inches or taller.
Measure over-arm size
Hang your arms at your sides and measure from your bicep, completely around your body, and back to your bicep.
Measure your chest size
Raise your arms and measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your armpits, being sure to cross over your shoulder blades in the back.
Measure shirt sleeve length
Calculate your shirt sleeve length by measuring from the center of your neck, over the broadest part of your shoulder to your wrist, and then add an additional 1 to 1 ½ inches.
Measure your neck size
Measure your neck size. Begin one inch above the base of your neck, just below the Adam’s apple, and wrap the tape loosely around your neck.
Measure pant length and inseam
Measure your outseam from the top of your waistband to approximately the bottom of your ankle. Measure your inseam from your crotch to the bottom of your pant leg. The pant length should be long enough to cover your socks as you walk.
Measure hip area and waist
Measure the fullest part of your hip area, and measure your waistline just above the navel.
