Because reading is fun and fundamental!

You Will Need

  • A library card
  • A computer with internet access
  • An e-reader
  • An MP3 player
  • Reading glasses (optional)

Steps

  1. Step 1

Search the internet for summer reading

Search library and bookseller web sites – most offer summer reading lists in different genres.

  2. Step 2

    Find easy reading

Find something easy and pleasurable to read. Vacations are for fun – not work

  3. Step 3

Find out what bloggers are saying

Once you identify a few different titles, search to learn what bloggers are saying about them.

  4. Step 4

Make sure it’s available in paperback

When you find a book you’re interested in purchasing, make sure it is available in paperback. Paperbacks are smaller, lighter, and easier to read when lounging in a lounge chair.

  5. Don’t forget your reading glasses.

  6. Step 5

Look for books in e-books or MP3 players

Consider books that might work well in e-book readers or MP3 players – they’re portable and easy to travel with. Most library memberships offer them for free.

  7. Did you know? Recent studies report that just six minutes of daily reading can reduce stress by two-thirds – that’s more than taking a walk or playing a video game.
