You Will Need
- A BlackBerry
- A computer with internet access
- A manual
Install the desktop software
Install the BlackBerry Desktop Software that comes with your new gadget onto your computer so you can synchronize it with your BlackBerry.
Charge your BlackBerry
Charge your BlackBerry with the charger that came with it.
Know the layout
Familiarize yourself with the device by referring to the page in your manual that identifies each button on the face of your BlackBerry. Read the instructions for using the trackball, keyboard, microphone, notification LED, and USB port.
Enable wireless internet
Once the battery is charged, turn on your BlackBerry and go to the main menu. Using your cell-phone provider's service, you can start using the internet immediately by clicking the Browser icon.
Set up address book
Set up your address book by clicking on it and then clicking "New Contact." After you have filled in the information, save. You can access this contact information at any time by going back to the address book.
Set up e-mail
Sync an e-mail account with your BlackBerry using the BlackBerry desktop software or PocketMac. Follow the on-screen instructions to sync an existing account.
Send a message
Send a text message or e-mail by rolling the trackball to messages. Choose whether the message will be a text or picture message, or an e-mail. Type the message, choose a recipient, and hit "Send."
Browse the web
To start browsing the web, use the trackball to go to the applications menu. Click the Browser icon. If your browser isn't working, make sure the wireless is enabled.
