If those pesky gray hairs are popping up around your eyes, follow these tips to control them.

You Will Need

  • Eyebrow dye
  • Mind soap
  • Ophthalmic ointment
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Cotton swabs
  • Paper towels
  • Sterile eye-irrigating solution (optional)

If you get dye in your eyes, rinse with a full bottle of sterile eye-irrigating solution. If irritation persists use another bottle.

Step 1: Test the dye

Test the dye on the back of your neck or inner upper arm and wait for two days. Examine the area for any irritation to see if you are allergic to the dye.

Only use dye that is approved for eyebrow use, and always read the manufacturer’s directions before beginning.

Step 2: Wash and dry

Wash your face with mild soap and dry completely.

Step 3: Apply ophthalmic ointment

Apply ophthalmic ointment to your upper and lower eyelids, spreading it from your lashes to about two inches around the eye.

Step 4: Cover eyebrow outline

Cover your eyebrow outline with petroleum jelly to prevent the dye from staining your skin.

Do not get the petroleum jelly on any of the hairs on your eyebrows.

Step 5: Saturate a cotton swab

Saturate a cotton swab with the dye.

Choose a swab that is perfectly tailored, not fraying at the ends.

Step 6: Apply the dye to the eyebrow hair

Wipe all the eyebrow hairs with the cotton swab and leave the dye on for 15 minutes.

Step 7: Rinse off the dye

Wipe off the dye with a wet paper towel. Then wash your face again to remove excess dye.
