You Will Need

  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 c. corn syrup
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1-1/2 c. chopped pecans
  • 9" unbaked pie crust
  • A mixing bowl
  • A 9-inch pie pan
  • A wire rack
  • 2 tbsp. bourbon (optional)
  • 3 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)
  • Aluminum foil (optional

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Mix butter, syrup, eggs, sugar, and vanilla

    Combine the melted butter, corn syrup, eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl and stir until everything is well mixed.

  3. Add bourbon and chocolate chips, and reduce the corn syrup to ½ cup to make a twist on a traditional pecan pie.

  4. Step 3

    Stir in pecans

    Stir the chopped pecans into the bowl. Be sure to completely coat the pecans with the butter mixture.

  5. Step 4

    Pour mixture into pie crust

    Pour the mixture into the pie crust. Use the back of a spoon to smooth out the top of your pie.

  6. Cover the edges of the pie crust with aluminum foil if the edges begin to brown too quickly.

  7. Step 5

    Bake for one hour

    Bake the pie in the preheated oven for one hour, or until the pie is set.

  8. Tap the center of the top of the pie lightly with your finger to see if it's set. If it springs back, it's done.

  9. Step 6

    Cool for two hours

    Remove the pie from the oven, and place it on a wire rack. Let it cool for two hours, and then enjoy your delicious dessert.
