<![CDATA[Do Your Part to make your clothes dryer last a lot longer and become more energy efficient! As a bonus, you'll save a bundle of money!

Emile Benvegna from Dryer Vent Wizard in Charlotte - showed me herself.

First, she removed the dangerous foil duct work and replaced it with up-to-code metal ducting that she sealed off to prevent leaks. Expanding foil or plastic tubing actually traps lint in, clogs the line, and creates a fire hazard.

Step two - make sure your dryer is 4 to 6 inches away from the wall. If it isn't - the dryer can't get the air it needs - and it uses more energy.

And the dirtiest step - Cleaning out the vent line that runs to the outside of your house.

What came out of the vent was mortifying. And the difference in the flow of the air was amazing.

However, this is not unusual. One in three homes has about this much lint built up in the line and you don't know it until you clean it. And only 10% of the lint gets caught in the trap...everything else goes in the line and out.

Bottom line- if you can't hear your dryer running, you've got a problem.

Another way to tell if you have a problem - if it takes more than one cycle to get your clothes dry. It will cost a family of four an extra 20 dollars a month for those extra dryer cycles and it shortens the life of your appliance!

So, Do Your Part and keep your clothes dryer working efficiently. You'll use less energy, prolong the life of your dryerand save money!
The key is to keep your vent line clear and clean! Trust me, it's not as simple as just emptying the lint basket. ]]>
