Add a finishing touch to cookies that will leave everyone begging for more.
Allow freshly baked cookies to cool to room temperature on a wire rack.
Insert a number two or number four sized pastry tip into the pastry bag and fill it with icing.
Squeeze a pastry bag from the end of the bag, not the center, to keep the heat of your hands from melting the icing.
Carefully trace a circle around the edge of the top of the cookie.
Pipe vertical lines on the top of the cookie within the circle you’ve drawn.
Use a butter knife or small spatula to smooth the top of the cookie.
Let the first layer of icing dry before adding monograms or another layer of frosting.
Add decorations, such as colored sugar, sprinkles, small candies, or chopped nuts. Wait for the icing to set, and then dig into your cute and tasty treats.
In 2005, the U.S. Postal Service issued special holiday stamps featuring pictures of assorted cookies shaped like snowmen, elves, angels, and Santa Claus.
