If you love to explore the mysterious and inexplicable, this is the field for you.
Understand what a paranormal investigator does: They research seemingly inexplicable incidents, looking for a logical explanation – or if there is none, then for evidence of other-worldly activity.
Paranormal investigators most often debunk alleged paranormal activity, rather than confirming it.
Be realistic about your earning potential. Most paranormal investigators have a day job because there isn’t much demand for this service. Plan to make it a hobby rather than a career.
Read up on the subject or take a class. There are online certification courses, but being certified is not required to become an investigator.
Get the equipment: a digital camera and audio recorder, a video camera with an infrared filter, night-vision goggles, an electromagnetic field reader to measure the increase in electricity in the air, and a thermal heat imager to detect a sudden drop in temperature. All can alert you to whether a spirit is hovering nearby.
Consider joining an established team of paranormal investigators; it’s a good way to learn the ropes. Search online for a group near you.
Once you gain some experience, advertise your services online or in your local newspaper. You’ll need a few ghost-busting jobs to help you pay off all your pricey equipment!
No ghost sighting has ever been scientifically authenticated.
