Use proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. The President is not your IM buddy or your follower on Twitter. Treat your message as an important document.

Compose in a word-processing program so that you can spell-check and proofread it before you send it.

Step 4: Go to whitehouse.gov

Go to whitehouse.gov when you are ready to send your e-mail message. Click on the Contact us icon.

Step 5: Fill out the form

Fill out the required fields in the contact form that appears. Copy and paste your message into the message box if you’ve written it. Otherwise compose it now.
