You Will Need
- A computer
- iTunes software
Eject in iTunes
Select your iPod's name under Devices in the left- hand column of iTunes. Then click on the Eject icon next to the device name, which looks like an up arrow with a line underneath.
Eject in Mac
Eject your device from the desktop on a Mac by choosing Finder from the dock and selecting your iPod from the list. Then click the top File menu and then Eject iPod.
Eject from a PC
Eject your iPod from your PC's desktop by selecting Start from the lower left task bar. Then select My Computer, right-click on the iPod drive, and select Eject from the pop-up menu.
Simply unplug your iPod if the display reads Charging or OK to disconnect, or if the iPod shuffle shows a solid amber or green color.
Use last resort
Listen or feel to find out if the iPod's hard drive is spinning. If it's not, unplug it from the computer and reset the iPod, which will save all data. Use this last resort if the iPod still reads Do not disconnect after trying all other methods.
