They say if it’s hot enough, you can fry an egg on the sidewalk. But if concrete’s not your thing, a skillet works, too.

You Will Need

  • An egg
  • 1-2 tsps. butter
  • A small bowl
  • A small 8-inch nonstick skillet
  • A spatula
How To Fry an Egg: Crack egg into bowl

Step 1: Crack egg into bowl

Crack the egg into a small bowl. This will help keep the yolk intact when you put the egg in the skillet.

How To Fry an Egg: Heat skillet, add butter

Step 2: Heat skillet, add butter

Heat the skillet over medium and add the butter.

When you add butter to an empty heated (or heating) pan, the butter will melt, then “foam.” The foam is the water boiling away from the fat—always add ingredients to the pan after the foam has subsided.

How To Fry an Egg: Slide egg into skillet

Step 3: Slide egg into skillet

After the butter has foamed, slide the egg from the small bowl into the skillet.

To speed the cooking process, gently use your spatula to puncture the sac binding the egg white and spread the white around by angling the pan.

How To Fry an Egg: Cook until white is set

Step 4: Cook until white is set

For an egg served sunny-side up, cook until the egg white is set. Then you’re done!

How To Fry an Egg: Or cook longer

Step 5: Or cook longer

If you prefer your egg over easy, carefully flip the egg with your spatula and cook it for another 30 seconds. For eggs over well, continue to cook for a minute more, until the yolk hardens up.

One large egg provides a whopping 10% of the recommended daily allowance of protein for an average person.

How many eggs? There is no recommended limit on how many eggs people should eat. Eggs are a good choice as part of a healthy balanced diet. But remember that it's a good idea to eat as varied a diet as possible. This means we should be trying to eat a variety of foods each week to get the wide range of nutrients we need. http://www.eatwell.gov.uk/healthydiet/nutritionessentials/eggsandpulses/eggs/?lang=en

Okay I fried the egg and I think I was suppose to eat it. I really needed instruction on that part as I almost choked, the next bit of instruction I am told, I will need is how to use that porcelain white chair thingie with water in the bottom, what to do with the paper roll next to it. OMG this is soooo stressful please what happens next? I have strange sensations in my nether regions, odd pressure building HELP I NEED INSTRUCTION HERE PEOPLE!
