Epoxy resins can be used as adhesives or sealants, depending upon how they are formulated.
In their liquid forms, resin and hardener can irritate skin and eyes. Wear protective nitrile rubber gloves and safety glasses, and work in a well-ventilated space.
Clean the surfaces on which you’ll be applying the epoxy resin.
Mix the resin and hardener according to the manufacturer’s directions.
Apply the mixture to the surface with a stick or toothpick.
Remove air bubbles by popping them, breathing on them, or piercing them with a pin.
Let the epoxy resin dry and harden for several hours. Epoxy resins designed for use as adhesives tend to harden faster than those used for sealants.
Did you know? Bakelite, the first synthetic resin, was patented in 1909.
