Step 2: Find a knockoff
Get a replica of a gown worn to an award show. Knockoffs arrive at department stores within one week of red-carpet events.

Step 3: Purchase the same thing

Step 5: Have it made
Still no luck? Bring a photo of the dress to a seamstress, who’ll make a copycat for you.
