Steps

  1. Step 1

    Be prepared

    Be prepared by reading all materials in advance, showing up on time, and following all of the instructions of the facilitator.

  2. Step 2

    Dress appropriately

    Dress appropriately for a camera by avoiding bright colors, busy prints, and large, shiny pieces of jewelry.

  3. Step 3

    [Turn off cell phones

    Turn off your cell phone and other electronic devices. Focus on the meeting only.

  4. Step 4

    Speak clearly

    Speak clearly and be aware of where the microphone is so you can talk into it. Don't talk over others -- wait your turn.

  5. Be aware that there may be a slight transmission delay, so be patient when asking a question.

  6. Step 5

    Avoid making noise

    If you have to discuss something privately, mute your microphone. Avoid making excessive background noise like rustling papers.

  7. Step 6

    Be yourself

    Just because you're on camera doesn't mean you have to do something special. Be yourself.

  8. Video conferencing is being used to help the hearing-impaired communicate over long distances.
