Make a side dish that sizzles with seasoned asparagus hot off the grill.
Rinse your asparagus and cut off any tough ends. Leave the tips on.
In the small bowl, whisk together the mustard, vinegar, olive oil, lemon zest, sugar, salt, and pepper.
You can also use your favorite store-bought marinade or vinaigrette.
Place the asparagus spears in the shallow dish and drizzle the marinade over them. Then refrigerate the dish for 2 hours.
Heat your grill to medium and place the asparagus in a single layer on the grill.
If you have small spears of asparagus that may fall through the grill, use aluminum foil or a grill basket.
Grill the asparagus for 6 minutes, and then turn it over with the tongs. Then grill for another 6 minutes, until it’s tender and has grill marks.
Remove the asparagus from the grill and transfer it to a side plate.
Drizzle any leftover marinade over the asparagus and cover it with tin foil for 3 minutes before eating. Serve your asparagus as a side to complement any entree.
Asparagus is a member of the lily family.
