How to Make Pound Cake

This moist cake will have you going back for seconds.

You will need

  • u00bd lb. butter
  • plus more for pan
  • 3 c. all purpose flour
  • plus more for pan
  • u00bd c. vegetable shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • u00bd tsp. fine salt
  • u00bd tsp. baking powder
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream
  • Fruit
  • 10-inch Bundt pan
  • Mixer

Step 1 Preheat oven Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Then grease and flour the pan and set it aside.

Step 2 Mix together Use your mixer to cream the butter and shortening together in one of the mixing bowls.

Step 3 Add ingredients Slowly add the sugar. Then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each one.

Step 4 Stir ingredients Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder in the other bowl. Slowly stir this mixture into the butter mixture, alternating with adding the milk.

Step 5 Add vanilla Add the vanilla extract and mix well. Then pour the batter into the pan and bake for 60 to 90 minutes.

Step 6 Insert toothpick Insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. When it comes out clean, the cake is done.

Step 7 Cool pan Allow the pan to cool for 10 minutes. Then slice the cake and top it with whipped cream and your favorite fruit.
