Every avid cyclist should know how to fix his bike; learn the basics in this video series.
You Will Need
- Hex keys or Allen wrenches
- An electric sander
- Paper towels
- Painter's tape
- Spray paint
- Clear coat spray
- Adhesive labels (optional)
Remove everything from the bike's frame, including brakes, handle bars, pedals, gear box, chain assembly, and the tires using your wrenches and screwdrivers.
Sand the frame using progressively higher grit sandpaper and an electric sander to remove any rust or corrosion.
Hang and clean frame
Hang the frame in an open space using a heavy gauge wire and then wipe away any dust or paint particles with paper towels.
Tape bolt holes
Cover bolt holes with painter's tape to protect them from paint.
Prime and paint
Prime and paint the bike with even, sweeping motions to build successive layers of paint until the frame is completely covered. Then apply the clear coat in the same manner.
Wait at least 3 days for the paint to cure before reassembling. Upgrade any parts that were damaged or broken for a complete transformation.
